Small update - 1/24/2011

Hello random vistors.

I would just like to take a moment to post a small update about what I've been up to.
I recently just transferred to Richard Stockton College of NJ so I can finish up my communications degree, so I have been updating even less that usual. Hopefully, that will all change since I will have more free time than I usually do at home. So far, everything is going great around here. I met some guys around my dorm who are as nerdy as I am, and my roommate and his friends are... Well how should I put... "Black as night.", but they have a lot of street smarts on them, so I think I have a nice balance.

Right now, I'm working on a few articles such as my Faxion Online preview, a slick MMORPG about Heaven vs. Hell. It's currently in the alpha stages and I got a grand tour by UTV Games with a few other journalists. I got to see a lot of freaky stuff, like butt ugly monsters (strong emphasis on BUTT) and gross fat dudes. But still, the game has a pretty neat concept so I may be checking it out later on.

I'm also got started on my GetAmped 2 review. I've been putting this off for awhile, but I finally got started.
I'm going to (hopefully) focus most of the day on it so I can have it submitted before Monday.

...oh who the hell am I kidding.... I'm going to hold everything off 'til the last minute like I always do. Anyway, that's pretty much it.

And now this:

Oh, and thanks for the 10,000+ hits!

LOCO Online - Tour

(Don't mind me... Just posting a press tour that I should have uploaded months ago!)

New to Alaplaya's line up is a brand new action game that mixes DotA inspired RTS gameplay with RPG and third person action called LOCO. The game features 13 different heroes to choose from (with 17+ more heroes on the way), each with their own strengths and weaknesses to bring into battle. LOCO brings players fast paced gameplay and intense team based PvP, all wrapped up with Unreal 3 Engine goodness, and I got to try it firsthand!

For starters: I have never played a DotA style game before. In fact, I didn't know that this sub-genre of RTS titles existed until a month or so ago, mainly because I suck at RTS titles. Looking at LOCO on the surface, I didn't know that it was a DotA style game until I got into it. So let's take a look at what makes LOCO such a unique experience, shall we?

Grand Chase - Season 3 Tour

Back in spring 2010, SG Interactive (formerly known as Ntreev USA) released season 3 updates for Grand Chase, a multiplayer online brawler with cute anime flavored boys and girls that love beating the crap out of monsters, evil villains and each other. Season 3 featured numerous updates including a complete overhaul for missions, items and user Interfaces, plus brand new dungeons , land and tons more.

I used to play this game way back before it was even in English, and I was pretty damn good at it, so I was more than ready to give the new Grand Chase a go.

Genesis AD - Review

So my Genesis AD review was uploaded recently over at OnRPG, but looking back, I'm not too happy with how it turned out. When I wrote this one up, my writing style was too descriptive and didn't have enough critique. I've been improving my writing since then, and I'm much happier with some of the recent reviews I've been submitting, so articles like these will be a lot different.

Remember twitch based first person shooters like Quake 3 Arena and Unreal Tournament? With the simple concept of FPSs centering on fast reactions and accuracy, they were the kings of LAN parties and the rulers of PC tournament gaming. But nowadays, mainstream gamers would rather play a slow and "tactical" shooter like Call of Duty: Modern Whatever.

Every other twitch based shooter released between now and then hasn't been spectacular enough to make gamers relive the good 'ol days, but that's not going to ijji from bringing out a new one. Genesis AD is a multiplayer shooter with a distinct sci-fi theme. While it brings popular features found in both shooting games of now and then, will it be enough to make for a unique and long last experience?
