GunZ 2 - G-Star 2011 Interview

More news for GunZ 2 keeps on rolling in, and I just have to post it all because I can't wait for this game to come out. Recently on MAIET's official Facebook page for GunZ 2, they've posted an interview with GameShot.net. The interview was poorly translated and (once again) posted as a comment rather than a new post, so many people may not notice it once more comments roll over. I took the liberty of posting the interview here while fixing some of the bad grammar.

Q: When did you start development of GunZ 2?
A: We started back in 2007.

Q: It's a sequel, but it looks very different from the previous one.
A: We've rewritten the whole story of the GunZ universe.

Q: Please introduce the three playable classes.
A: The Assassin class is focused on close combat & sniping. Fighter class is a "jack-of-all-trades" type and will be useful in multiple situations. The Heavy class is primarily designed as a tanker for PvE mode, but can use wide area attacks for massive kills.

Q: We noticed that each class was able to use up to five different weapons. Will this be possible in the released version?
A: No. First off, we will create six weapon types for each class and you will only be able to choose three weapons in combat.

Q: Will shotguns be available for all classes?
A: Yes, because players loved using shotguns a lot in GunZ 1, and in GunZ 2, the shotgun will be very useful because it can break normal defense with melee weapons.

Q: We noticed that Assassin and Fighter classes can use a Blade/Dagger & Pistol combo. Is there any special usage for them?
A: You can perform melee attacks with the left mouse button and fire your ranged weapon with the right mouse button. Damage output with this combo isn't very good, but allows you to be more versatile in combat.

Q: What's the difference between normal defense with melee weapons & special defense with riot shields?
A: You can defend the whole body using a riot shield. Also, other enemies cannot break its defense using shotguns and it's immune to uppercut attacks.

Q: We noticed that special skills can be performed with melee weapons.
A: Whenever you attack enemies, take damage or collect special canisters around the map, you will gain some ZP (Z-Point). If the ZP gauge is maxed out, you can use it to perform special skills. At G-Star 2011, they were only available for melee weapons. We'll be adding more interesting special skills for each weapon.

Q: The gameplay looks a lot easier than before.
A: Yes, the control system is a lot easier now. Just by pressing the spacebar will allow you to perform many actions, and you don't need to press keys in repetition with other actions anymore.

Q: Will GunZ 2 support character customization?
A: Yes, it will.

Q: Will GunZ 2 support weapon customization?
A: We're not sure. We're currently testing this out.

Q: Will items be restricted by the player's level?
A: Yes.

Q: How will you solve the issue of item balancing, then?
A: For GunZ 1, it was really hard for players to find proper opponents with a similar skill level, but in GunZ 2, you won't have to spend time switching servers and channels to find players on your skill level, as we'll be introducing a very powerful matchmaking system.

Q: Which game modes will be supported?
A: We're currently developing & testing many different game modes, so we cannot comment on this at the moment.

Q: How important will PvE be in GunZ 2?
A: With the new features, 30% of the game will be focused on PvE mode.

Q: What kind of features will be available in PvE?
A: Players will experience many things related to physics like falling builing, portals and riding mounts.

Q: What's the reward of playing PvE?
A: You will be able to gather specials fragments from PvE to create weapons and items. These created weapons and items will have special stats to them.

Q: Please explain more about RealSpace 3.
A: It uses deferred lighting technologies, allowing us to create a highly dynamic gaming environment.

Q: How about K-Style?
A: We will NOT be implementing K-Style in the same fashion as GunZ 1. However, there will be a few ways to cancel moves.

This sure doesn't sound like battlefield hero.
