KartRider DASH - CBT Impressions

Back in 2007, Nexon US released an online racing game called Kart Rider, which featured an addictive mix between the wackiness of Mario Kart and the drift mechanics of Ridge Racer. Despite a fair amount of support, Nexon US closed down Kart Rider before it had a chance to launch in 2008. Even with several cries by fans for a full release, Nexon wasn’t willing to give anyone a straight answer.

Finally, after four years of silence, Nexon US is bringing Kart Rider back in the form of a free-to-play Facebook game. While it sounds like a smart move to ensure a large and active community, many of the features and charm that made Kart Rider such an amazing game were stripped away in the process.

Mabinogi - Review

Released back in 2008 for North America, a developer company named DevCat created a new kind of MMO that takes life, anime and a teeny bit of Irish mythology to create a truly original MMORPG experience called Mabinogi. This little gem is one of Nexon’s oldest titles, featuring unique combat, a freeform skill system, tons of story content and many other features to create a world with lots to see and do.

Since its release, the game has received several expansions called “Generations” that include new areas, new features and advancements to the game’s story content. I got to play this way back during the first couple of generations and a have returned to see that a lot has changed… for better or for worse, that is. So is this “Fantasy Life” still worth living? Let’s take a look.

Play Log - Mabinogi - 8/17/2011

Just putting up a small log for today!

I just started playing Mabinogi again, and this time I'm really starting to get into it. I started over with human character and decided to stay on Mari, because apparently, every other server has gone to hell in a hand basket. Besides, all my pets are here on Mari, anyway.

Right now my human character is LV26 with no rebirths. Already working on G1 quests, but I'm facing a bit of a brick wall trying to complete the Barri dungeon part, so if anyone is playing on Mari, let me know?

Also: I got this adorable little dragon pet with me.

Wanna know what I'm gonna do with it?

GO ON AWESOME MAGICAL ADVENTURES WITH IT, THAT'S WHAT.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH~~~ I'M THE KING OF EVERYTHING!

Dragon Nest - Closed Beta Impressions

It’s time for some more arcade style goodness with Nexon’s latest action MMO title: Dragon Nest. Developed by Eyedentity Games (awesome name, by the way…), Dragon Nest takes arcade and console style gameplay and mixed with old fashion MMORPG features.

With two successful MMO hack n’ slash titles already under Nexon’s belt (Vindictus and Dungeon Fighter Online), Dragon Nest attempts to set itself apart by mixing fast action with an exciting story, all brought together in a bright and colorful world for gamers of all ages to enjoy.

I managed to get into the recent closed beta test, so I’m here to give you all a little taste of my experience!

Play Log - Dragon Nest (CB) - 6/15

So after a two hour download and a few launching errors, I got to try out Nexon's Dragon Nest. It's an action MMO made by another one of Nexon's exclusive IPs (Eyedentity Games.) I remember hearing about this game about half a decade ago, and though I haven't been tracking this too much, it feels good to finally give this game a try.

Play Log - Mabinogi - 12/28

It's been such a long time since I last played this one. I remember hyping the crap out of this back when it was only available in South Korea during its vanilla stages. I had so many good remembers playing Mabinogi. The only reason I didn't play as much as I wanted was due to my old crappy PC.

But now, I have myself a new PC capable of running this, so I figured I'd give it another go. I played English Mabingo during G1 and a little bit of G2, but now its on G12... Man, I missed so much.

I feel pretty damn lost regarding the storyline. right now. It has something to do with alchemy... and a shadow realm? Yeah... I don't know. I haven't gotten the hang of a lot of the new systems such as alchemy and whatnot, so I'm probably gonna be bugging a lot of strangers to help me out.

Despite my love of action MMOs, I still enjoy Mabinogi's active battle system. Trying to get perfect training EXP on skills is still a pain in the ass, though.

Oh... And I also ran into this thing:

Wat?
Obviously a glitch, but damn it scared the crap out of me when I first saw it.

Just a thought - Cut Nexon some slack!

(Please note that this article was created years ago and my thoughts on the company has changed since then. This article is now for archive purposes only)

Well here's a post that should have been posted on my blog awhile ago!

Over at OnRPG, I did a little feature article on why Nexon deserves a little more credit than they're being given by the general MMO public (and when I mean general public, I mean OnRPG's community... Ha ha.) Now I don't think that Nexon is 100% perfect by all means, but I certainly think they're a step above most gaming portals, because at least Nexon doesn't remove features from their games and try to sell them back to you, or try to place outrageous prices on vanity items, huh? Here's the rest of my thoughts:
